Stephanie Allington works with cyanotypes to depict both human and natural forms found in the Australian landscape. Connecting the human body to nature through the use of the non-toxic solution, sunlight and water.
Stephanie's Practice
Photography has always been one of my interests where I primarily photographed nature and my surroundings. I was fortunate to be able to study a Bachelor of Design in Photography at the University of Technology Sydney. My interests in Cyanotypes extends from a lecture in 2020 where I learnt about early photographic techniques. Working with Cyanotypes encourages me to continue experimenting with my photography and exploring how I can make Cyanotypes interesting for those viewing them.
The way I incorporate sustainable practices is through the use of using the objects and materials I have around me, for example coloured transparencies, measuring cups, leaves and flowers. Another way I incorporate sustainable practices is by using hand crafted paper sourced from the university art store.
